Winter Once More

"Hello," changed my night to morning.
How she brightened my life.
"Adieu," changed my light to mourning,
Cutting more surely than a knife.

"He's all heart," is what's said of me.
Well then all of me is breaking
Into pieces for all to see.
Yet still trying; smiling; faking.

Lips upturned, eyes without a smile.
Anything to keep thoughts unknown.
Each new day is just a new trial'
For once again, I eat alone.

My whole world has fallen apart.
I've been wounded to my very core.
I'm building walls around my heart
Because, yes, it's winter once more.
