Windmills of Love

Long had I sought the fair maiden
Worthy of my heart so love laden
But like Don Quixote I sought in vain
Tilting at mere windmills my life-long bane
It mattered not how widely I sought
Nor how many dragons I fought

Still, as before, I ended each day alone
Without a love to call my own
But steadfast and undeterred I persevere
With heart humble, unshaken and sincere
Each day started with a simple prayer -
"Lord, let this very day end my despair"

And lo! As today I approach this tower
I spy a lass, a beauteous flower
Could this be my redemption day at last!
Has my destiny finally been cast?
Yes! Truly this damsel is without peer
She, eternally, I will cherish and revere

O maiden who hast captured my heart
To your servant salvation impart
Lower thy heart's drawbridge to my sweet lance
May I, now and forever, have this dance
As together we weave wondrous polyphony
Of unmitigated, heavenly harmony
