Las Vegas, brilliant city all a-glimmer
With showy, shiny, gaudy glitter -
You fill my heart with sigh and tremor
And leave a taste so awful and bitter.
You tease and please and titillate
With forged wealth and waxen smile
Til the senses urge, "Capitulate!"
To false treasures - vaporous and vile.
Though I flee thy trap so temptingly baited
Most remain in captivated apathy.
So leave I do - my soul weary and weighted
Thinking you owe Sodom and Gomorrah apology.
