When Time Stood Still

It was a warm, comfy night like this
But it's the difference I miss
I remember lying on a gentle hillside
Out across the way in the darkening twilight
My best buddy and I lay there on our backs
As the earth turned to blues and blacks
Talking of everything and anything and nothing
Until finally in silence simply gazing
In hushed awe at the wonder of
The countless stars twinkling above
And in the quiet reverie that ensued
As from our special slope we viewed . . .
For a few moments on our little hill . . .
The earth faded away and . . . time stood still.
