There Will Be Meat Tonight |
|
|
From high atop towering tree Sat he of feathered majesty Watchful statue of the sky But peaceful beauty doth belie Silent stalker on the prowl Soon shall soar the king of fowl As slowly sets the sleepy sun Wearied by the day now done Must look his best - one last preen Then spreads his wings of auburn sheen Every straining muscle imploring Higher and still higher soaring Surveying as hill and dale below Swiftly succumb to spreading shadow At last! With triumphant avian shriek! Transforms to hurtling auburn streak! Downward! Downward! Earthen flight! There will be meat tonight! |
