The Divine Loom

Life is all too often an over-patched dress
An incoherent and puzzling mess
Filled with scraps tangled and clashing
Any semblance of order rudely smashing
Littered with threads haphazardly knotted
Without a sign of intelligence anywhere spotted

And yet, and yet heaven will certainly be
An infinite and most glorious tapestry -
Endless miles of impossible beauty
Scene after scene - farther than eye can see;
Each more dazzling in its manifest glory.
And lo! Just as radiant . . . my life story.

Yes! There in the midst, my very own scene
Dazzling and brilliant as God had foreseen.
Each moment of pain, each struggle and strife
Transformed . . . when seen from the other side of life.
For all the sadness, confusion and gloom
Were but the under side of heaven's loom.
